There have been few reasons up to this point to purchase a Playstation 3. But Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction
changes all that. Ratchet and Clank mixes the old school platforming of the Ratchet and Clank series and puts in lots of
other elements. Some may think this dilutes the experience, but the varieties of gameplay in the game make the pacing of
the game much faster and more compelling.

The weapons in the game are amazing which are a hallmark of the Ratchet and Clank series. Allowing the players to level up
weapons through both use and upgrades at weapon shops. This RPG element in the this platformer is both necessary and awesome.
The amazing gadgets in the game allow Ratchet to do some incredible things and changes up the gameplay. Where in some games
things like high ledges or lots of water would be obstacles, not so in Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction. The
game gives the player devices, gadgets, and even a couple of weapons to get the player around the world in new and cool ways.
Things like transforming enemies into penguins or making them dance; are just too funny.

Throughout the game the graphics keep reminding the player that the PS3 has the ability to make Pixar-like graphics. Which
really makes every other game on the system look awful except Heavenly Sword. Every aspect of the graphics shines. Dust
on the ground kicks up around Ratchet's feet. Water flows around Ratchet and with his fans spinning sends him through the
water with bubbles and waves trailing. Fire looks properly cartoony and the all the models look stellar. Rachet's fur looks
great and static sparks off Ratchet's rail sliding blades.
The game's default difficulty is just perfect for anyone. Even people who are hardcore about their platformers
will find the difficulty just right for hunting down the returning golden bolts. The balance in the game seems have some
sort of heavenly perfection considering the player is never frustrated or lost. Insomniac continues to shine with their latest
outing and it was very hard for me to find ANYTHING wrong with it.

The game is rather short, at around 6-8 hours depending on how much exploring the player does. But going back through to
find all the golden bolts on a higher difficulty with weapons maxed out is just a ton of fun and certainly adds length to
the gameplay. As so often lately of PS3 games, the best titles have no multiplayer. This is again true with Ratchet and
Clank Future Tools of Destruction. There is no co-op or multiplayer but the amount of fun and diverse gameplay the game offers
will give any player at least 10-15 hours of fun.
This game may not be reason enough for the average gamer to pick up a PS3 but I truly believe that Insomniac
has the market cornered on both quality and ingenuity. An example of this: making SIXAXXIS control useful in both Resistance
and Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction. The game truly shines as what can be done on the PS3 and should be looked
at by all the other developers with projects in the works as the standard to set. Also it certainly moves the bar for platformers
up by having great gameplay that is diverse and never frustating.
If you own a PS3 and don't own a copy of Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction you should go out and
buy it. The game is a must own title on the console in the tradition of Resistance Fall of Man. Even if you have never played
a Ratchet and Clank game before, this game is for you. Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction gets a
9/10 BUY IT!
